In this guide, we will explore the versatile gravity side-feed mechanics and influencer-tested ergonomics of the Swallowtail collaborations. We’ll cover the modular needle setups, the mirror-level cup maintenance, and the common mistakes to avoid to keep your atomization at a professional standard.
Before we begin, here is what you’ll find in the box. Both versions come with the Swallowtail Body and two Mirror-Level Gravity Cups (1/3 oz and 2/3 oz). They feature a 0.28mm needle and nozzle pre-installed, along with 0.5mm and 0.7mm needle/nozzle sets. You also get the Fan Cap upgrade (compatible with the 0.5mm setup) and a quick-disconnect male fitting.
Section Title: How To Clean The Swallowtail Collaborations?
We recommend cleaning the airbrush every time you switch colors or when you finish a session. The Mirror-Level Gravity Cups are specifically polished to prevent paint from sticking, making the process much faster.
To clean your Swallowtail, remove the gravity paint cup and wipe the side-feed port clean. Fill a cup with airbrush cleaner, attach it, and spray.
Next, perform the reverse flow process. Block the air from the nozzle using a rubber cap or your finger. Slowly pull back the Redesigned Trigger. This forces the cleaner back through the internal 8-MAC channels and out into the gravity cup, agitating any deep-seated paint residue. Repeat this until the spray is clear.

For deep maintenance or when swapping between your three needle calibers, follow these steps.
Unscrew the handle (note the cutaway window for balance) and loosen the needle chucking nut.
Pull the needle out slightly, then unscrew the air cap and nozzle cap to retrieve the Quick-Release Nozzle.
Crucial Step: Push the needle forward and remove it from the front of the airbrush. Do not pull it through the back; this prevents dragging paint into the trigger housing and protects the 0.28mm precision tip.
Unscrew the spring sleeve and remove the spring and chucking guide.
Carefully remove the trigger and air valve if a deep internal clean is required.
If you are soaking parts, remove all rubber o-rings first. Use a small brush to clean the gravity side-feed connection port where paint likes to hide.

Once dry, let’s reassemble the unit.
First, insert the trigger and the needle chucking guide. Make sure the guide plate is at the correct angle so the longer trigger returns smoothly. Insert the spring and screw in the spring sleeve.
Slide the needle in from the front to the back. Place your chosen nozzle (0.28mm, 0.5mm, or 0.7mm) in, then secure the nozzle cap and the appropriate air cap (Round or Fan). Gently push the needle from the back until it seats firmly—never force it. Tighten the chucking nut, attach your gravity cup, and you’re ready to spray.

1. Pressure Overload: Using over 30 PSI for fine details. Keep it between 10–20 PSI for maximum control on delicate gradients.
2. Mismatched Needle Setup: Trying to use the 0.5mm for micro-details or the 0.28mm for broad base coats. Match the caliber to the task.
3. Cleaning Neglect: Failing to clean the gravity side-port after every use leads to hardened paint in the nozzle, ruining the 8-MAC atomization.
4. Thinning Errors: Paint must be thinned to a "milk-like" consistency. If it's too thick, the gravity draw will be sluggish and prone to splattering.
